For me, there is nothing better that sitting on the front porch on a summer morning, sipping on a good cup of coffee, and reading a book that inspires or challenges me. Reading as a spiritual practice helps me grow as a person, expands my views in life, and gives me language for communicating what matters most. A good book can lead me more fully into the presence of God as I hear the voice of the Spirit speaking to me in new and old ways.
To share my enjoyment of reading as a spiritual practice, I invite you to join me in reading a book together. For some, this book will be a good read on the beach. Others will take it slow and read it throughout the summer. Some may encourage friends and family to read it with us. My hope is that reading the same book will root us in a common experience that will spark conversations with others, will help us explore and deepen our faith, and will inspire us to live more fully into Jesus’ way of love. – Tommy Bratton
