FBCA Helene Recovery Fund
FBCA Helene Recovery Fund
Since Hurricane Helene hit Asheville on September 27, 2024 and brought unknown devastation to our Western North Carolina region, First Baptist Church of Asheville has received over $125,000 in financial donations from individuals, communities, and churches all across the country. As these funds have been growing, leaders in our congregation have been discerning the best ways to utilize each and every dollar. On November 18, 2024, the FBCA Finance Committee accepted the following recommendations from the Helene Recovery Fund Advisory Team:
- 20% – Community Hub Expense (direct costs to FBCA from initial 22-day period of hurricane relief)
- 20% – Long-term Recovery Initiatives (reserved for future projects TBD)
- 30% – Disaster Recovery Grants (cleanup, construction, living assistance)
- 30% – Counselling and Wellness Grants (focusing on, but not limited to, children and families)
