Blessed Are You Who Weep (Luke 6:20-31) — Mack Dennis

November 2, 2025. All Saints’. Year C.

Where Matthew has Jesus staring off into the distance and saying, “Blessed are those who mourn,” Luke reveals how Jesus looks intently at us and declares, “Blessed are you who weep now.” Luke’s version of Jesus’ sermon is just right for this poignant day when we suffer to remember the saints who’ve gone before us. Without bypassing our pain or looking past our grief, Jesus looks straight into our teary eyes and proclaims a promising word: “You will laugh.”
