FirstShine Summer Camp

Camp Date: July 27-30, 2026

FirstShine is a traditional summer day camp for teenagers and young adults with special needs in our greater community. The camp is held at First Baptist Church of Asheville from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day. Activities are thoughtfully designed around the age and interests of each camper and can include outings such as swimming, games, crafts, and more.

We are seeking both upper high school (with some middle school positions), college age, and adult volunteer counselors who are willing to give of their whole selves in service to another beloved child of God for the duration of the camp. Essential training and ongoing support will be provided, and counselors consistently describe FirstShine as a deeply joyful and fulfilling communal experience. A $50 counselor deposit helps offset expenses for our campers.

We also welcome volunteer nurses, special education teachers, and Bible Study classes to help provide camp meals.
