Paula Garrett

Pastoral Resident

Paula Garrett serves as Pastoral Resident, providing liturgies for worship, helping think through the Church’s communications, and teaching as needed.

She is currently pursuing an MDiv at SMU’s Perkins School of Theology and is supported through Perkins’ Baptist House of Studies. Paula teaches and chairs the English Department at Warren Wilson College, having previously served as Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the College for a decade.

Prior to moving to WNC with her wife, Donna Read, Paula taught English and directed the Writing Program at Millsaps College in Jackson, MS. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Baylor University and her Ph.D. at LSU. She and Donna are mothers to their teenage son, Read.
